Formula 1: Dutch driver Nyck de Vries joins AlphaTauri as Pierre Gasly replacement

By India Today Web Desk: Dutch driver Nyck de Vries has signed a new deal with Scuderia AlphaTauri for the upcoming 2023 season. The 27-year-old will replace Pierre Gasly, who has joined Aston Martin.

De Vries kicked off his Formula 1 career at the Italian Grand Prix earlier this year for Williams, following a stand-in appearance for Alex Albon.

Speaking of stepping up to a full-time F1 race seat for the first time, De Vries said he was really excited and thanked Red Bull for giving him this opportunity.

“I’m extremely excited to be joining Scuderia AlphaTauri for 2023 and I want to thank both Red Bull and the team for giving me the opportunity to drive in F1,” said De Vries.

The Dutch driver said it had always been a dream of his to race in Formula 1 and his 2022 experience will help him next season.
