Sebastian Vettel Closes F1 Chapter for Good — Eyes Endurance Racing & Mentorship Role

Date:

Four-time Formula 1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel has officially ended speculation about any dramatic return to the Formula 1 grid, declaring firmly that his time in F1 is over. The German star, who won titles with Red Bull between 2010 and 2013 and later raced for Ferrari and Aston Martin, said he has made peace with moving aside for a younger generation of drivers.

🔚 “Formula 1 is Finished” — Vettel

In his own words, Vettel put it plainly: “Formula 1 is over.” The 38-year-old explained that stepping away wasn’t about lack of offers alone — but a conscious choice to allow rising talents to occupy those coveted seats.

Vettel noted that the new crop of rookies is strong and deserves space to grow without legends lingering in the cockpit too long. He added that while he still has the passion for racing, the time for full-time F1 commitment has passed.

🏆 A Glorious Career

Sebastian Vettel leaves behind a remarkable legacy in F1 — 53 Grand Prix wins, four consecutive World Championships, and countless memorable moments. Even in his final seasons, he was a respected leader in the paddock, often championing causes like sustainability, diversity, and driver welfare.

🔄 Turning to Endurance Racing

However, retirement from F1 doesn’t mean retirement from racing altogether. Vettel confirmed he is exploring endurance racing, including the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans and the World Endurance Championship (WEC).

He recently tested a Porsche prototype, hinting that a switch to the WEC paddock could be on the horizon — but only if he can commit fully. For Vettel, the appeal of endurance racing lies in its team focus, shared driving duties, and the fact that it doesn’t demand the relentless travel of an F1 calendar.

🏎️ Guiding Future Stars

In addition to potentially racing at Le Mans, Vettel is also considering taking on a mentorship role with Red Bull Racing — the team where he made history as its first World Champion. Talks are reportedly ongoing about Vettel stepping into an advisory or developmental role, helping nurture the next wave of Red Bull juniors.

It’s a natural fit, given Vettel’s deep ties to the team and his reputation as a thoughtful mentor for younger drivers on and off the track.

🚦 Final Lap Summary

  • F1 Comeback: Vettel himself says it’s off the table for good.
  • Next Stop: Endurance racing, possibly Le Mans, if the project aligns with his goals.
  • Legacy Role: Likely to guide young drivers at Red Bull, passing on his expertise.
  • New Era: Vettel’s graceful exit marks a clean handover to rising F1 talent worldwide.
