November 2, 2025 – In a significant update to their T20I squad, New Zealand has called upon experienced opener Devon Conway as a replacement for the injured Finn Allen for the upcoming T20I tri-series in Zimbabwe, which also involves South Africa.
Allen sustained an injury during the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 tournament, forcing him out of the squad. Conway, a left-handed batsman last seen in national colors in June 2024, brings a wealth of experience back to the top order.
“We’re really gutted for Finn,” said New Zealand head coach Rob Walter. “I was looking forward to working with him and to see him continue his form from the MLC but unfortunately injuries happen. We’re lucky to be able to call on someone of Devon’s quality to replace Finn.”
Additionally, as cover for the four players involved in the MLC final, New Zealand Cricket has added all-rounder James Neesham, batter Mitch Hay, and opener Tim Robinson to the squad. The players they are covering for – Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Glenn Phillips, and Rachin Ravindra – will join the squad after the MLC final on Sunday.
The tri-series is scheduled to be held from July 14 to 26, with New Zealand playing their first match on July 16.
