A New Era: Williams Unveils Revamped Identity as ‘Williams F1 Team’ for 2026

Date:

In a move signaling a bold step into Formula 1’s future, Williams Racing has announced a comprehensive refresh of its brand identity, set to take effect from the 2026 season. The iconic British team will officially be known as the Williams F1 Team, unveiling a new logo that pays homage to its legendary past while eyeing a return to the front of the grid.

The decision coincides with the sport’s introduction of sweeping new technical regulations in 2026, positioning it as a symbolic new chapter for the Grove-based outfit. The team stated that the evolved identity “connects the team’s glorious legacy to its bold and ambitious future.”

A Nod to Heritage: The Return of the ‘Forward W’

The most visible change is the new team logo, which replaces the current stylized “W.” The fresh emblem is a modern, 21st-century interpretation of the original “Forward W” introduced by founder Sir Frank Williams in the team’s founding year of 1977.

This deliberate callback to the classic design serves as a powerful link to the team’s most successful era, a period that yielded nine Constructors’ Championships and seven Drivers’ titles.

Building on a Resurgent Foundation

The identity refresh comes at a time of significant upward trajectory for the team. Under the ownership of Dorilton Capital and the strategic leadership of Team Principal James Vowles, Williams is poised to secure an impressive fifth place in this year’s Constructors’ Championship.

Their current points tally of 111 marks a dramatic turnaround, surpassing their combined total from the previous seven seasons. This on-track resurgence, highlighted by a first podium since 2021 courtesy of Carlos Sainz in Baku, provides a tangible foundation for the team’s future ambitions.

Leadership’s Vision: Inspired by the Past, Focused on the Future

James Vowles expressed pride in the new direction, linking the team’s identity to its ultimate goal. “I am proud that from next year we will be known as Williams F1 Team and carry a logo on our car inspired by our founder Sir Frank Williams and deeply connected with our decades of success,” Vowles stated.

He emphasized the balance between heritage and ambition, adding, “As a team we are inspired by our past but excited about our future and committed to writing a new Championship-winning chapter in Williams’ history. This evolved team identity reflects who we are, where we are going.”

The change also strategically reintroduces the team’s championship-winning legacy to a new, growing generation of F1 fans who may not have witnessed its era of dominance.

With a clear vision, a refreshed brand, and a competitive car on the horizon for 2026, the Williams F1 Team is boldly declaring its intention to not just participate, but to compete, as it embarks on its next historic chapter.
