Rabiot Brace Inspires AC Milan Comeback Win in Como

Date:

AC Milan extended their remarkable unbeaten Serie A run to 19 games with a hard-fought 3-1 comeback victory away to Como in a rearranged league fixture. After falling behind early, the Rossoneri showcased resilience and quality, with Adrien Rabiot emerging as the hero with a decisive second-half brace.

The match began inauspiciously for the visitors. Como, playing with confidence in front of their home fans, took a deserved lead in the 10th minute. A precise cross from Martin Baturina found Koni De Winter, who powered a header past Mike Maignan to stun the league leaders.

Milan struggled to impose themselves initially, with Maignan forced into important saves to deny Nico Paz and Carlos Augusto to keep his team in the game. The momentum shifted just before halftime when Como defender Kempf fouled Rabiot in the box. Christopher Nkunku stepped up and calmly converted the penalty, sending the teams into the break level at 1-1.

The second half belonged to Milan. Ten minutes after the restart, they completed the turnaround with a brilliant counter-attack. Rafael Leão drove forward with purpose before laying off perfectly for Adrien Rabiot, who fired a left-footed half-volley into the net.

Como pushed for an equalizer, but Maignan stood firm, making further crucial stops. Manager Massimiliano Allegri then managed the game expertly, introducing fresh legs in Niclas Füllkrug and Samuele Ricci. The victory was sealed in the 88th minute when Rabiot sealed his man-of-the-match performance, unleashing a powerful strike from outside the box to complete his brace and secure the three points.

The win is crucial for Milan’s title ambitions, keeping them in second place with 43 points, just three behind leaders Inter Milan. More than the points, it was a display of character, coming from behind away from home against a spirited opponent. The Rossoneri now turn their focus to Sunday’s home fixture against Lecce at the San Siro, riding a wave of momentum and an ever-growing unbeaten streak.
