Bangladesh Innings: Hridoy Anchors the Ship
Bangladesh’s innings got off to a difficult start, losing both openers cheaply and quickly slipping to 8/2 in the third over. Towhid Hridoy steadied the innings, showing great composure with a hard-fought 51 off 90 balls, his 11th ODI half-century. He partnered with Najmul Hossain Shanto (32) for a crucial 71-run third-wicket stand.
Debutante Mahidul Islam Ankon impressed in the middle order, contributing a valuable 46 before being dismissed by Roston Chase. Crucially, a late, impactful cameo came from Player of the Match Rishad Hossain, who smashed a quickfire 26 off just 13 balls, including two sixes, to push the total past the 200-mark.
The West Indies bowling attack was disciplined, led by pacer Jayden Seales (3/48) and all-rounder Roston Chase (2/30). Left-arm spinner Khary Pierre was particularly economical, conceding only 19 runs for his one wicket. Bangladesh were eventually bowled out for 207 in 49.4 overs.
West Indies Innings: Rishad Hossain Runs Riot
The West Indies chase started positively, with openers Brandon King (44) and Alick Athanaze (27) building a solid 51-run opening partnership. They looked comfortable in the tricky conditions, seemingly setting a platform for a successful chase.
However, the entire momentum of the game swung irreversibly with the introduction of the leg-spinner, Rishad Hossain.
Rishad was simply unplayable, bowling eight overs in a row in his first spell and dismantling the West Indies middle order. He claimed the wickets of Athanaze and Keacy Carty (9) before baffling the top-scorer, Brandon King, to leave the visitors reeling at 82/3. The collapse continued as Rishad ran through the rest of the batting lineup, picking up five wickets for just 25 runs in his initial spell.
His exceptional figures of 6 wickets for 35 runs—the second-best bowling figures by a Bangladeshi in ODIs—broke the back of the West Indies chase. The last seven wickets fell for only 51 runs, with the tourists ultimately bowled out for a disappointing 133 in 39 overs. Pacer Mustafizur Rahman (2/16) provided excellent support, wrapping up the tail to seal the comprehensive victory for the home side.
