South Africa Women kicked off their three-match T20I series with a commanding 105-run victory over Ireland in the first match on Thursday.
Led by a breathtaking, unbeaten century from captain Laura Wolvaardt, the Proteas posted a formidable 220/2 after being put in to bat. Wolvaardt dismantled the Irish bowling attack, scoring 115 runs off just 56 balls, an innings laced with power and precision that set the platform for a massive total.
In response, Ireland Women were never in the chase, bowled out for 115 in 18 overs. The South African bowling attack applied consistent pressure, with wickets shared amongst the bowlers. Nonkululeko Mlaba (2/13) and Nadine de Klerk (2/18) were the most successful, as Ireland lost wickets at regular intervals.
